Dumfries Town Cleanup

Come to the Town of Dumfries for a few hours of educational fun. This event is held annually Each volunteer for the cleanup will receive a pick up grabber, trash bags, safety vest and gloves. Dress accordingly for this event. Wearing boots is suggested and maybe even long sleeves. There will be brochures and other items you can keep for yourself or share with others. There are a few areas in town that really need undivided attention. The town is 1.6 miles in radius, but you will be surprised what you could find on our streets that don\'t belong. Large heavy bulky items like tires try to remember or take a picture of the nearest street sign where you saw that item. Our maintenance crew will assist in picking that up. Be cautious of things you might reach down and pick up with your hands. Volunteers will be guided to drive to places that are too far to walk. You will need to leave all your filled trash bags where you picked up trash. We have a maintenance crew who will pick up those bags. If you find anything hazardous please be very careful in handling that item especially needles. Do not put that in your trash bag. Parents and guardians are expected to provide the most safety to children. Watch them closely at all times. Lastly I would like to say THANK YOU to each and everyone of you for making such a positive impact in helping to keep our waterways and environment safe and clean.
