Join millions of locals and visitors from around the United States and Japan during the National Cherry Blossom Festival. This annual event commemorates the gift of 3,000 cherry trees Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo imparted upon the city in 1912 and continues to be one of the most highly anticipated events of the year in Washington, DC.
This springtime celebration spans four weekends and welcomes more than 1.5 million people every year. Look forward to a diverse schedule of events including on stage entertainment, arts and culture activities, the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade and the Washington National's baseball game at National's Park.
The DC Cherry Blossom Festival takes place March 20 to April 16, 2017, the perfect time of year to see the cherry blossom trees in full bloom. You'll also see pink lighting and blossom-inspired designs imprinted on several iconic buildings as the city gets into the festival spirit. Participating businesses and destinations include the Arena Stage, Edward R. Murrow Park, James Monroe Park, NPR and Union Market.
